The JaxMP Network Performance Monitoring (NPM) Management Packs provide device specific monitoring and management natively with System Center Operations Manager 2007 R2.  The standard MPs provide monitoring for all critical components of any device including Interfaces, Memory, Processor, Fan, Power Supply and more. Advanced monitoring packs are also coming available for routing protocols, add-on modules, broadcast storm, etherchannel, and more.  

Absolutely no CLI or WMI is used to retrieve performance values from the devices.  The Discoveries and Monitors are native SCOM implementations and use SNMP to collect all discovery, performance, and health data.  Once the device has been discovered in SCOM, the Management Pack takes over and performs the specific device discovery.  After discovery, a native SNMP module is used within SCOM to perform an SNMP walk to collect values directly from the device.  You will never configure a login and password to access the switch or import MIB files into WMI.  Discovery granularity can be configured by objects and attributes plus users can override values such as polling interval and thresholds to provide a more tailored monitoring environment.

• Discovery of device components and state via SNMP walk for: CPU, Fan, Interfaces, Memory Pools, Power Supply, Temperature, Voltage
• Ability to throttle discovery by component, target objects, and configuration attributes
• Hundreds of alerting monitors for routers, switches, and firewalls available for use
• Full coverage for all Cisco device SNMP traps via the Trap Enhancer
